A Little Bit About Carlisle and Why You Might Want to Stay Longer 

If you’re making the trip out of the bank holiday, and you might as well, luckily, Carlisle and the surrounding area have plenty to offer.

We’re just a short drive from Gretna Green, the famously romantic runaway wedding spot just over the Scottish border, with love is very much in the air around here.

The area itself is full of beautiful countryside, with scenic walks, rolling views, and plenty of cosy corners. If you’re tempted to turn this into a longer getaway, there are lots of gorgeous cottages and places to stay nearby — perfect for a little post-wedding retreat.

For those who prefer their cardio in the form of shopping, there’s the Lake District Outlet in nearby Gretna, ideal for a bit of retail therapy, or grabbing anything you might have forgotten! Carlisle city centre also has plenty of shops including M&S, breweries, restaurants, cafés, and essentials if you need them.

And if you’re feeling adventurous, clay pigeon shooting and other countryside activities can be arranged.
